Thimila

Thimila is a traditional percussion instrument played for Panchavadyam one of the main events in Kerala. A drum shaped hollowed-out piece of jackfruit wood, with both ends covered with skins which is played with the hands.

Thimila produces sharp sound, which is crucial in maintaining the rhythmic structure of notes.
